Black Health Awareness Campaigns
Culturally responsive health communication addressing health inequalities.
Global Villaje Media creates targeted campaigns, broadcast conversations and community resources to raise awareness of health conditions that disproportionately affect Black African and Caribbean communities.
Why culturally responsive campaigns matter
Health disparities are well documented. In the UK, Black African and Caribbean people experience higher rates of certain conditions, including prostate cancer, hypertension, stroke, type 2 diabetes and sickle cell, and face distinct barriers in mental health, dementia care and maternal health.
Standard public-health campaigns do not always reflect the language, cultural context, trusted channels or lived reality of the communities they need to reach. GVM combines professional health communication with community insight to produce campaigns that are clear, respectful and effective.

Priority health themes
Prostate cancer and men's health
1 in 4 Black men will get prostate cancer in their lifetime. Earlier awareness and risk discussions save lives.
High blood pressure & cardiovascular
Hypertension, stroke risk, regular testing and lifestyle changes made culturally relevant.
Type 2 diabetes and prevention
Culturally adapted nutritional advice, active living and earlier screening pathways.
Sickle cell and blood donation
Raising awareness of sickle cell management and the urgent need for Ro-subtype blood donors.
Maternal health & perinatal care
Addressing maternal mortality disparities and empowering expectant mothers and birthing people.
Dementia & unpaid caring
Reducing stigma, supporting carers and promoting earlier diagnosis in African & Caribbean families.
Mental health & emotional wellbeing
Normalising conversations about stress, depression and seeking help without fear of prejudice.
Health research & representation
Building trust and understanding in clinical trials, genomic medicine and public health studies.
